H1B Status and travel to US - NEED HELP ASAP !

hi all

I worked for Indian based company A in US for a year till Jan 6th 2006. i was told that my assignment in US has ended (note: still employed with company A) and i need to report in Indian office on 1st Feb 2006 after a 20 day vacation.

Is it legal to travel into US with same H1B of company A when no body is expecting me here and then file a transfer with company B and then resign from company A ?

note: i was payed in indian salary for the month of Jan 2006 and and payed in US before Jan 2006.

As long as valid H1B and visa, you can travel to US.
