Hi,

I need to urgently travel to india in nov. Since, no appointment is available in India in november, I took an appointment at Vancouver consulate, Canada. I was wondering what would be the processing time for stamping process there? Has anybody gone through this process before? Is mexico better than canada in terms of getting H1-B stamp?

Please let me know...

Thanks a lot

Some Queries & Good Luck - PLEASE REPLY

rajatag,

Hi Rajat..., hope you are doing well. I am currently in India and awaiting the approval from USCIS @ CSC. Once my employer mails the packet over to me, I would have to attend the appointment @ the US Embassy, (I got mine for Jan 19th, 2006 - Its totally insane out here).

I have some questions for you. Since you already have your H-1, you probably would have more knowledge on the subject.

(1). Once the H-1 comes through USCIS, is there a possibility for rejection when you goto get it stamped ?

(2). What all paperwork are you supposed to take along with you ? Anything in addition with the approval paperwork from UCSIS ?

(3). What all questions do you prepare for the interview ? What sort of things to the consulate officers ask ?

I would really appreciate all your help in this matter. I request you give me any sort of information that you might have.

P.S. :- Also please answer how long does it usually take for the H-1 approval to come through from the USCIS ?

My Receipt Notice Date is 11th July, 2005 and it under NORMAL PROCESSING. Any idea what time-frame should I be looking at ?

Good Luck with your H-1 Stamping @ Canada.

H1B Stamping in Canada

I have made an appointment at Canada's Ottawa US consulate to stamp my passport with the H1B visa instead of going to my home country. I have employers letter and a previous visa stamp from my previous employer, which is not expired. Is it safe to travel to Canada and will the stamping be done within three working days? Has anyone had any experience, please share.
Also, I have just read about a warning here because some are stranded in Ottawa as the US consulate computers are down. How can I check if all is clear?

Hello All –
Would really appreciate your suggestions and feedback on this. I need to travel to the UK on May 3rd, and do not have a valid Visa, since my current H1-B expired in February 2007. I just received a 3-yr Extension, based on Approved I-140, but am not finding any appointments in Canada for the Visa Stamp. So, am considering traveling on my Advanced Parole, and wanted to understand –

H1-B Visa expiration
1. Will my status change from H1-B to EAD automatically if –
a. My wife uses her EAD?
b. Either my wife or I use the AP?

Traveling on AP
1. Are there any specific disadvantages of traveling on Advanced Parole?
2. Anything different about traveling internationally on AP vs. H1-B that I should be aware of?

I'm trying to determine if any of this will affect my H1-B Portability, in case I want to switch employers.

Thank you in advance!
