Hi - Since this portal helped me a lot, I wanted to share my experience first hand.

- Pakistani Citizen - Appt at 9 00
- Got to consulate at 8 am
- First round of check at Security gate
- Go through security and stand in line
- Another guard gets all the papers together
- Get in another line and go to counter. Agent collects all my papers
- Wait 15 minutes and get called for fingerprinting
- Wait another 15 minutes and get called for interview
- Questions were 1 - Employment letter 2 - Past visas on old passports
We talked about the book that i was reading and where I went to school.
- Agent told me visa is approved and to collect my passport next day at 3 pm.
- Came out at 9 30. Total time 1.5 hours - Quite good

Note: There was another pakistani who was ahead of me who had a 10 minute interview and sounded like they made him go through the background check cause of his name. Unfortunate. I was worried at that point.
It just depends on your name.

max2005,

This question shouldn't be too bad. I don't think they really ask it from anyone. Even if they do, you can easily say that it takes longer in my home country to get the visa. Like in Pakistan, one has to wait for 2 ~ 3 weeks to even get to the interview. Also, you can say that you just wanted to see Canada also and had some vacation left for the year so came here rather than planning a big trip to Pakistan right now.

They are making money by your visiting Canada so really shouldn't be too bothered about this.

amooraj,

So is your name not a common one? I agree that its all about the name but is it just about any part of your name or both first and last names? :)

- They didnt ask me about home country

- Its last name. My first and middle names are very common.

On the other hand, if you have a first name like Muhammad .. cant speak for that.

But I would say last name is most of the criteria.

Congratulations. How difficult was to get Canadian visit visa? Do you have Canadian PR?
