H1b stamped and looking to transfer

Hi,

I am getting my H1 stamped this month end and it actually got processed by the Indian company (hQ'd in the US) I am working for, was just wondering if I get an offer from some consultant in the US - would I be able to transfer my H1 sitting in India and then fly out? Or should I have to travel upto the US and then file for a transfer? Is there any danger in doing so? Please advise, would really appreciate some.

Any suggestions here? Please advise. I got a consultant calling me today saying I will have to travel upto the US and then apply for a transfer. Is that possible? How about the two paystubs that you would need for a transfer? Please advise.
