H1B revalidation - "from" adress question

hello folks,

the thing is, I have mailed all the necessay stuff to St Louis,MO for H1 revalidation. Now on the self-addressed-stamped envelope I have not written the "from" address since I did not know from "where" they were going to mail me my passport back. Obviously I have written the "TO" address as my home address :D

but my question is,have i commited a major mistake by not writing the "from" address? I browsed a lot of threads pertaining to H1 revalidation and found that in some of the threads,the senior members of this site have advised to write the "from" as well as "to" address as the home address.

please let me know whats what and if I should have written the "From" address what should I do now?

my packet reached MO on the 12th of April.

----- that is correct ,DOS site clearly mention about this. FROM: your addres. TO, your address
please let me know whats what and if I should have written the "From" address what should I do now?
--- you cant do anything now, I hope the envelope will come to your address

What do you think would be the worst thing that could happen in this case. Say, for instance they revalidated my visa and now they discover that there is no from address written.But there is a TO address written. WHat do you think would they do? I mean the worst they can do is not put anything on the FROM address and just mail the packet. Right? WIll the postal department have any problem with this?

DO you think I can talk to the postal dept and tell them in advance regarding this situation and provide them my tracking number so that they could/would see to it that it reaches me?

---- I think they will send it to to you as your address is on fedex envelope

my passport safely arrived at the care of address at my friends place!phew..

BUT..they did NOT stamp it...2 reasons:
1. photo was unacceptable
2. If your company is in VA then why do you work in NC

the 2nd is really ridiculous..i had clearly mentioned in the DS-156 form the name and address of my company in VA. My permanent home address is in NC. Then why the hell did they state such a reason?? :confused:


my most important question is ,now suppose I go to India to get my visa stamped will they create any problem because of this??
Does the US Dept of state/visa keep a record of my stuff??

---you can send the passport to DC again for Visa stamping with correct photographs, I think your employer letter should clear that you work in XYZ place as..... and employer office is in CCCC and by law 9 let then write the section of law) that you are allowed to work at diffrent place than employer H.O area

------ DOS rejection will not matter but they are asking lot of documents at this time for H1 or H4 visa stamping particulrly Bombay and Madras

---YES they keep the record.
****Best option try with DOS directly dending to DC they have diffrent address check the revalidation site

ginnu ,really appreciate your reply!thanx a ton. i think i will now employ an immigration lawyer for this stuff...i just cant take this mental anxiety anymore.
