H1B renew do-it-myself ?

I want to renew H1B myself, since I have all the original document for the initial H1B petition.

Has anyone done it before ? I saw there are different do-it-yourself kit out there for purchase for $50. Not sure if they are any useful at all.

Also what is the earliest time I can submit the petition ? Mine current H1 expired at the end of May. Do I need to apply for an LCA before filing H1B ?
