H1b layoff

I have a question, I have an H1B Visa and I was layoff at the end of November 2006. I need a month or 2 to find another job or wrap-up business here and return to my country. I heard I should change my status to B-2, but I already have that visa, it was issued before my H1B. What should I do to stay legally in the US for a month or 2?

If you are closing down your business and going to home country staying 2 months does not matter.
