H1B lay off for Canadian immigrant

Should i file for change of status from H1B to any other visa (F1/F2, B1/B2) to remain in status after lay off in USA or i am already in status (or no need to file change of status application) as i am canadian immigrant. Please advise. Thanks.

You should be fine. However you cannot seek employment without
work visa.

No ! you are out of status but not Illegal if you I-94 is still unexpired.

Assuming you are Canadian immigrant from c\'wealth country,
you need no visa to visit USA. So even if h1 becomes invalid
due to layoff, you could be a visitor in USA.

Return I-94 immediately

Probabaly I-94 should be returned and come again as visitor visa

Thats right when I-94 is returned & if you managed to enter
based only on canadian PR, then I think you are fine.
