H1b in year 7 and will expire in 2010. Wife is on H4. (my 140 was approved w my preivous employer and PERM is approved recently with my current employer)

My employment will end in late December. Company is big and conservative so they won't give me any side deal (unpaid leave, delay H1b cancellation w/ INS, etc.)

Based on my research, it seems I need to look for a job ASAP and we should file application for F1/F2 near the end of Dec.

Question: if my F2 application is being processed, and then find a job, do I need to participate in the big lottery for new H1b? Or can I just transfer from my original H1b? Alternatively if I do become F2 and then find a job, I can't transfer the H1b right?

You can port the PD when file second I-140.

if you have I-140 approved why YOU could not file your and your spouse I-485???
what is your PD? (LC filing date) EB3 or EB2? your country of birth? is PD current for you at this time?
