Hello,

I am a H1B visa holder. I am trying for a transfer from one of the team in our IT department to another team (in the same IT department). The job title of the new position is different from my current job title.

H1B rules allow this? Do I need H1B transfer for this?

I filed my labor certification in 2003. Will this tranfer affect my labour?

Please post your comments.

Unless the job title brings you more money (in the range of 20 to 30 K per year) no need to change it practically. But in theory you have to amend your H1 for new job requirments.

For GC, that is for your future job, no need to worry. If the new job salary is more than keep GC job description as it is. In the future you never know employer is going to pay more money or not to match the new job title.

Hi great guru, others

My company got acquired and filed an amendment a few months after acquisition. When the company got acquired, I got a raise of $7K. All other roles responsibilities are the same (even same cubicle).

The amendment reflects the higher salary. However until the time the amendment was filed, I was getting a wage higher than what my original H1B for my original company stated.

Will this cause a problem for me at Port of Entry?

Thanks
