H1B issue

A) My current H1 & I-94 expires on March 31, 2003. My company has filed for a H1 extension in Dec 2002, however, looking at the slow speed of VSC, it does not seem that I'll get a result before March 31, 2003. Can I still work even after March 31, 2003? If yes, for how long? Is my status valid after March 31, 2003?

B) My husband is on a H4 visa and his I-94 too expires on March 31, 2003. Can his H4 extension be filed before the approval of my H1 extension. Also, what happens if his H4 extension is filed after March 31, 2003 ?

Any help would be appreciated.

A. Yes. Your status and employment authorization is valid until INS makes a decision in your case
B. You should have applied for spouse along with the H1. You can also do it now... Otherwise your spouse's status might be in jeopardy..
