H1B - is paying Soc. Sec. on paycheck required?

Having H1B is it required to pay Social Security deductions? Since I am not a residents nor a citizen, I am not eligible for Medicare or Soc. Security benefits later on. Technically why would I contribute? Is H1B exempt?

No, H1Bs from some countries are not exempt yet. Since many H1Bs become GC holders and later citizens this has not become a issue for the paymasters yet.
Companies like TCS, Wipro, infosys dont care...
