H1B -> F1 -> H1B

Hello,
I did my Masters here in USA.
After I completed my Masters I got a job and started working there on H1B.

I got laid off, so I changed my visa to F1 from H1B.
I went to India to get F1 stamped and my H1B was canceled.

Now I want to know can I get H1B again from F1 ?
And for how many years ?

Thank you very much,
Regards,

If you are talking about the total number of years on your H-1B (it will be 6 years including your first period of H-1B, unless you have a pending Green Card application).

When you reapply for H-1B, you will get a max of 3 years (i.e if your employer hires for >= 3 years).

Also, your H-1B automatically got cancelled when your F-1 got approved here in US (even before stamping).

I also think you have the privelege of falling under the H-1B cap of the year you first applied. So, just by filing H-1B now, even before you get the approval, you may be able to work for the new employer. Talk to someone more knowledgable in this area.

Good Luck!

Thanks for you reply

So does it mean I can work for 3 years and then 2.5 years more again ?
Since I worked for 6 months on H1B before switching to F1.
