H1b Extention- Complex situation

I have applied for I-140,I-485,EAD/AP in September last year and have an approved EAD and AP (Approved in Jan 04).

My H1 is expiring on 10th Aug,04. I some how managed to convince my company to H1B extention. Probably they will file for extention by july 5, 2004.

I do not know how much time will it take for the approval at NSC.

my question is, if my H1 is not approved befor Aug 10, 2004 will I be out of status?

or will my EAD come in effect after Aug 10, 2004?
or if my EAD comes in effect, will I be able to goback to H1 once my H1 is approved.
 
You status will continue if you receive H1B Receipt notice before expiration of the current H1-B. But you won't be able to travel outside without approval...

If you switch on EAD, you can't come back on H1-B....

That's what I understand
