H1B Extension time

My company applied for an extension for my H1B back in August 21st 2001 at the California Service Center at Laguna Niguel. I got a receipt dated August 28th 2001. But I haven\'t got my approval yet. Does it normally take this long? The voice recording claims that it \'normally\' takes 30 to 60 business days to process this case.
Calling a single number seems to be the only way that I can inquire about this. But it is engaged always during business hours. It is already 6 months now and I\'m very worried about this. Is there any other way I can contact the INS? Any help will be deeply appreciated.

Not normally, but . . .

I handled one last year (straight H-1 extension, worked for the employer and been paid for 3 years, no issues at all). CSC took 10 (yes, TEN) months to approve the H-1 extension. Your attorney can do several things to make this happen more quickly (I don\'t know them off hand since this is fairly unusual) but it\'s a very step-by-step process that needs to be followed exactly.

Not normal

You better seek attorney\'s help here. Mine was filed on 26Dec,receipt was Jan 3rd, and approval came out on Feb 11th. My attorney gave me on Feb 22.
This was NSC.

Hope it helps.
