H1B extension, Premium processing or not

Hi

I am am filing for H1B extension from the same company. My first H1b will expire Jan 10, 2005. I still have 3 yrs left in my 6 yrs H1b.

My question whether i need to apply for extension in premium processing or normal processing.

What happens if i apply for extension in normal process and its not approved by Jan 10th, 2005

please suggest.

Extension by normal processing is OK
What happens if i apply for extension in normal process and its not approved by Jan 10th, 2005.
If you have filed petition before current h1 expiry and have a receipt copy ,you are in status until you get a decision from INS .(approved or not approved)please suggest.
