Hi,

I hear off late USCIS is looking at education background for H1B extensions
and rejecting if one doesnt have computer science degree...is it true?? has anybody come across something similar...

I have applied for extension without a client letter now this rumour is adding up the tension...appreciate any inputs....

Thanks,

Your education and experience used to obtain the job should be applicable to the job. Are you saying that your degree was not in in the area of your job? Can you be more specific?

Hi Concerned4us,

My education is not relevant to software (B.E. Mech) but now I have been in this field for over 10 years...also I have my I 140 approved...would that help in the extension getting approved??

I suggest waiting for response. Given your experience in the field, your current GC processing, and your technical major, it is likely not the same issue as for a recent grad in a non-technical area. The rumors(likely with some truth to them) are due to too many H1B applications have been made for people with no tech ed and just short courses being submitted as qualified consultants.
