H1B Extension Approval

My h1b1 extension receipt date was June 29th, 2004. As of today, I received a request for information in July 7th and resubmitted everything back the same week. Currently the status of my file is showing that it is being processed. However, if you look at the priority dates under Texas Center, they are processing applications with dates in July. My current H1b is set to expire on 12/1/04.

1.Can I work after 12/1/04 even if I do not receive the approval notice?

2.Is there any way I can inquire about my case, although the case is still within the projected processing period?

3.Has anyone out there gotten their H1B renewal with Priority dates towards the end of June ’04?

Thank you.

You still can work up to 240 days after the date your current H1B expired if you apllied for extension and it is still pending. I am in the similar situation as you are (my H1B expired in August and the extension pending since late July). My payroll office knew about this 240 days rule, no problem at all. All best.
