H1b extension and travel

I have a question regarding 7th year H1b extension based on approved labor (filed a year ago) and travel overseas.


Q. I have heard that once you file for extension for H1b then traveling overseas can be tricky as it cancels your application in some cases.

I think mostly it is true if you file H1b for an other employer but travel before approval. I am not very sure if you are still with the same employer and apply for extension and travel abroad. Could some one highlight on this issue?

Extension of status is NOT abandoned if you go out of US while extension is pending. Change of status is abandoned if you go out of US while COS is pending
