H1B expiration and Adjustment of Status

I'm in H1B status, with my 6 years up in November this year. I'm married to a USC since 2003 and am now finally about to file I-130 and I-485 concurrently, along with the additional necessary paperwork for AP and EAD. Several questions: 1- Assuming my H1B expires before I receive an interview, I understand that I am authorized to remain the US while my Adjustment of Status is pending - correct? 2 - If so, how do I change from H1B status to EAD status before my H1B expires, with the same employer? 3 - Is there a time limit on how long I can stay in "Adjustment of Status Pending" status? 2. Fill new I-9 form with EAD information.
