H1B Conundrum

I currently am on a H1B visa valid till Jan 2008 with an EAD approved based on I-485 pending status.

I need to leave my current job on July1st but cannot join the new one till August 1st. What can be done so that I can still maintain my current H1B status yet join the new place only on the 1st of august. I would prefer not going on my EAD right away.

The new employer is ready to process H1B. Can he apply for a new H1B right away for a start date of August 1st? And if so does that validate my stay in the US till August 1st as legal pending approval of the new application?....

Please advise as I need this info soon as you can see.....any help from all the gurus will be appreciated. :confused:
 
You can leave your current job and apply H1 immediately with new employer. You take vacation from July 1 to Aug 1 this is valid.
You are not out of status, but do not use your EAD.
