H1B-Can we start work before Oct1st'06 if we get SSN

Hi,
Now I am in USA on H4 visa and applied for H1B through premium processing.
Can anybody pls clarify me the following query.

Can we start work immediately(i.e.before Oct 1st 2006)after get the SSN with the Approved H1B visa through premium process?

Your work authorization is valid only after H1 start date stated on H1 approval notice.
