H1B approval notice incorrect dates

Hello All

I noticed that my H1B approval notice is just for 2 yrs and 8 months instead of the usual 3 yrs. I just changed from a J1 to H1B visa and I have to work in this specific job for 3 yrs.

My Qs

1. Do incorrect dates- happen a lot? Is there a specific reason for this?
2. Do I file for correction or for extension when the time comes?

Point this out to your employer. His attorney should review and handle the problem.

When I was on H1, I also noticed that my employer's lawyer always filed for 2 yr 8 mo of H1. Not sure why, but that is what most of the lawyers do.
