H1B and out of status - please help

Hello Gurus,

I was laid off on Feb 10, 2006. I applied for H-1B transfer through premium processing on April 11, 2006 and it got approved today, I will be starting with my new company on May 1, 2006.

When I got laid off I got 2 months pay and severence pay till March 30,2006 and my former company (where I got laid off) did not revoke my H-1B visa which is valid till May 15, 2006.

Basically I did not work from Feb 10, 2006 to May 1 2006. Does this pose a problem in future, when I apply for Green card etc?
Was I out of status all this while?

You were violating h1 requirement, but unless it is more than 180 days, most likely you do not have problems on GC applications.
 
Since you got paid until march 30th and the new job starts on April 11th then it seems like that 11 days is the only gap. If you got a new I-94 with the new approval notice then it seems there isn't much to worry about. I doubt this is going to be a problem down the road.
