Hello! Have a quick question. I have H1B visa. My employer is about to be purchased by an investment firm. My location, salary and job title will remain the same. DO I need to file an H1B amendment? I am getting married in November and will be filing for green card status then. If I do need to file amendmnet, can someone walk me through the process. Regards!!!!

You need a knowledgable attorney to go ahead. Since you do not know the nature /(merger/amalgamation) acquisition of your company by another company, it need to be analysed before going for amendments.

I do know the nature, it is an aquisition, thus a brand new company, however my job title, position and location of the company all remain the same. I was told an I-29 form may be all I need to do, if anything
Hi gdoddato,
Can you tell me what you did? I was in teh same situation. Company acquired by another one. I was still working in the same job/position/cubicle.
The lawyer said I don't need to file initially but that to travel abroad, its better to do H1b amendment petition. Now i have new I-797 with new company name.
My only concern is that at the port of entry, the immigration officer may ask "why did u wait for X months before filing amendment" and deny me re-entry based on that.
Please let me know what you did and how ur journey went.
