H1B Amendment - proccessing time question

Hi everybody,
I currently hold H1, but applying for a manager position in the same department. The pay difference is not huge (4-5K), but the job description is different.

- Will the amount of paperwork for amendment will be the same as for new H1B filing?
- How long will it take to get the amendment approved? (this is very crucial for me)
- Can I start working in the new position before it is approved?

One more question (If moved to the new position - it will become relevant).
Will it be easier to get LC and eventually GC with IT Support Manager position or Computer Support Consultant position?

Always , if your pay is more, more chances to get yout LC approval. Lower pay only ctreate problem.
