H1b 6-year limit in jeopardy..please help !!!

Here's my situation:

Graduated with Masters: Dec 2001
On OPT: Jan - Aug 2002 (OPT was valid till Dec 2002)
H1B Approval Notice: Aug 2002 - Aug 2005
H1B additional 3-yr notice: Aug 2005 - Jan 2008

After drawing my lawyer's attention that the End date on the new approval notice was Jan 2008 instead of Aug 2008, they agreed to send correspondence to CIS. Today, the CIS confirmed that they are right about Jan 2008 deadline !!! How is this possible??? My LC has been stuck in PBEC for more than 3 years now and I dont know why they are creating more headaches for no reason.

Has this happened to anyone? Any suggestions on what could be done now to fix this !!!!!

I do not know why CIS thinks Jan 2008 expiration is right. Only thing I can think of is the start date of your 1st H1 was actually Jan 2002. Otherwise, it's mistake and you can reclaim 7 months for the next extension.
