Do you have FED EX receipts or some such thing? Unless and until you receive the receipt notices from INS (anywhere from 1 month to 3 months depending on service center) you might be in status or a few days out of status. Should not be a big bother...

You should have applied for the EAD when you sent the I485.
Hope it gets approved before 2/20/02.good luck
 
H1 extension application.

If you dont have EAD, send an overnite H1 extension application. INS usually sends you a reciept the same day or following day.... this will keep you in status.
