I am really confused and seeking your help. This is my 1st post here.

I am a 27 Indian married male working in US for last 3 years in IT. I want to join a B school on a Full time basis. Part time and Exec MBA are currently not under consideration due to lack of a good school in my area and lack of career change opportunities availed by an part time/Exec MBA degree.

I am currently working on H1B and have applied for permanent residency. My I140 is approved but my priority date is Jan 2005 and the current I485 date is Apr 2001.

Now I am in a dillema whether to sacrifice my Green card and join school or wait till I get my GC at the cost of postponing the MBA and also increase my age thereby decrease the focus on MBA due to other family responsibilities (kids etc...). Also, since there is so much backlog at the INS, I am not sure when will I get my GC.

If I sacrifice my GC, I have read that I wont get F1 because I have shown my intent to immigrate, is that true? Can I get F1, if I decide to sacrfice my GC?

Even if I get my F1, I have read that not many companies are ready to sponsor your H1B post MBA. Also getting GC is something I really want, so I will have to reinitiate the process which may take several years and I may have to stick with the 1st company (even if it is not so good) till I get my GC.

If I keep waiting till I get GC, I will have to postpone some other family responsibilities as I dont want to lose focus from my school activities.
I wonder if anyone here was in the same position, and what he or she did. Of course, any other opinions are most welcome.

I am really confused and two minded so need a friendly help.

If I sacrifice my GC, I have read that I wont get F1 because I have shown my intent to immigrate, is that true? no. it is true if you are in India , if you are in US and have sufficient fund to support your education and family you will get your COS from H1 to F1 with no problem. Can I get F1, if I decide to sacrfice my GC? No need to sacrifice anything your GC can proceed whether you are in H1 or F1 or you are in India, if your sponser willing to keep your GC process intact
