H1 vs B1

Hi,

I have h1b visa from company 'A' valid until 2007. Meanwhile I was laid off and joined company 'B' in India. Company 'B' wants to send me to US on B1 Visa. What are my chances getting successful B1? if my company provides all the necessary documents?

I heard from some sources that if any visa is valid new visa is not issued. Is it true, Your help will be appreciated.

h1 might not be valid

once you are laid off, your h1 is generally not valid. When you apply for B1 , the consulate most probably will cancel h1.
