H1 visa transfer and cancellation

H1 visa transfer by the new employer and cancellation by the previous employer

I am currently working with big indian company A. I have been offered a job by company B. I have accepted the offer by company B and resigned at company A. My last working day with company A is 2 weeks from today. However, company B has not yet filed for my H1 transfer. The new h1B will be filed by company B by premium processing in 1-2 working days. My questions are:

1) Is it a common practise by big indian companies to cancel H1 after a person has resigned?

2) Legally when can a company file for cancellation - once a person has resigned or only on the last working day?

------------- comany CAN revoke/cancell H1 any time and that is legal

i am transfering from company A to company B. if company B is applying on say Oct 5th, and my last day with company A is Oct 4th.

Company B has applied for it on time(ie on or before Oct 5th). But since it could take time to process this at the USCIS end, what if the Company A files the cancellation in the meantime?

----------------if your petition reaches on time before the past employer send letter to USCIS then I dont see any problem. Relax!!

fedex receipt

It is legal to switch once fedex shows the receipt by INS. The actual receipt notice is issued a few days later but fedex receipt is enough..
