stuck in Mumbai

Hi guys

I am relatively new to this site but I was looking for people with similar experiences. I recived my H1 in Oct 2003 after finishing my PhD in the US. I had my H1-b visa interview at the Mumbai consulate on July01, 2004. The officer said that they needed to send my application to DC in order to verify the application details. I am post-doctoral fellow in biological sciences. Was/Is anyone else in a similar position and do you have any idea as to how long I may be stuck here? Any info would be appreciated, Thanks

Maybe ur research comes in TAL. So usually it takes 30-60 days for that.

TAL is Technology Alert List.

There are certain fields which are marked by the US govt as sensitive. If anyone is working or studying in those areas, they ahve to go through extra scrutiny and clearance.
do google search on visa mantis and TAL for more info

Thanks for the tip waitin_toolong. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any agency/person that can be contacted in the US so as to expedite the process or get an idea of what stage it's at and approx how long before completion. Thanks once again
