hello all,
I had my H1B Visa Interview @ the chennai Consulate on JAN 23 and my wife had the H4 Visa Interview on the 4th of february. Both of them went very smooth and i would like to thank the people @ immigration.com for their wonderful support. I had taken all the documents that they had suggested and for any new comers to the forum i would say this is the best available resource,because of the extensive preparation i had done my interview was hardly for two minutes and my wife dint even face any questions.
thank you once again for ur support and i will answer anyone who can reply.
i would say if u really do ur documentation well, rather than goin to mexico and canada, india offers u a very easy and cheap option if u r touring india @ the same time and want t0o get ur visa stamped.

if it is visa revalidation, what documents you have taken to the consulate, and what questions they have asked you

I was getting my H1 Visa stamped on my p[asport for the first time though i had the I 797 for two years

Can you list what document did you prepare for your H1B interview? I will go and apply for my first H1B stamping in March and would like to get a complete list of the document needed for the interview. Thanks a lot!

vshaal, I am on H1 here..do I need to be physically present in India for my wife to get H4 approval ? i have heard of some cases where they refused until the husband was out there..or is that case by case basis?
 
and one more thing..are the wedding photos really required as a proof of marriage? my fiance is in australia; on my next trip there, I will get a registered marriage then..is that marriage certificate enough? our traditional marriage will be much later.
 
any registration certificate is enuf, and the pics are better if carried, they might ask and they might not, and u dont have to be present in india to get her H4,. i forgot to add bank statemenst, employment offer letter and experience letters and i 94 and passport copies in the list of documents
 
my experience at Toronto US consulate

I was on F1 and OPT (Biotech) from INDIA. I got H1 from a Research Non Profit Organization.

Mean while, I got my Canadian PR, landed recently in Toronto
and took an appointment for H1 B stamping.

At the interview everything went well, they took index finger prints and told me that it takes 3-4 weeks for clearence from Washington DC.

Any body experienced the same situation @ Toronto US Consulate, If so how many days they took to stamp H1?

It seems my profession is listed in TAL, TEchnology ALert list.

I have submitted all required documentation, Am I short of some thing which i overlooked?

When I took the apointment over phone they told me that its a matter of 2-3 days for clearance after taking finger prints.
But when I went to consulate in person its 3-4 weeks for stamping.

I am working now and took only a week off but Its tough for me to afford 3-4 weeks off

I am little bit concerned about the time they take.

I appreciate if any body can share info with similar situation

i would suggest if your profession comes in TAL list/watch list. Then be prepare for some delay
