I have been there , done that!

Remember to check the technology altert list to see if your degree falls in any of the categories. See the attached link.

http://www.hio.harvard.edu/students_scholars/travel/technology_alert_list.php

My friend was there last week and she was refused a visa because she was an environmental engineer. She had to stay there for two days and somehow managed to get back in. I know of people staying there for two weeks waiting for their clearances.

If you fall in the high alert category, take a letter from your employer and also from your advisor that your degree / job is not highly senstive. Consulate has to do a security clearance on you and it might take upto 3 months.

Carry clothes and other accessories for 2 days incase if you get stuck there.

Good luck and more the merrier!
