H1 Transfer issue - HELP

I am working with company A. Company B has applied for my visa transfer. My H1 transfer documents have reached INS on monday, and company B asks me to join them on thursday.
My question is that can i legally work for company B, even though they would not have received any receipt from INS till thursday?
Please let me know ASAP. Great Guru, you suggestion is awaited...
 
It should be legal to start working once petition is received, but problem is you may not have documents that prove your petition is received when you get into trouble. That is the reason you are recommended to wait for receipt notice.
