H1 to L1

Hi ,

My company has sent me to US with a H1b which expires on 2008 . Now due to some issues my company wants to file a L1 for me . So filing a L1 will it be a change of status or my H1 gets cancelled ?
If i want to switch to another company .. does the another company needs to apply a H1 in the cap of next year ?
note that i currently in US

You can do COS.
You do not come under quota if you were recently H1 and you trasfer that H1 to new employer even though you are currently L1. New company has to file new petition for your H1, though.
