h1 to h4

i am on an h1 visa and probably being laid off. My wife is thus on an h4. My wife is however getting a job and will be on an h1 visa and me on h4. I had only 2 years left on my h1 visa. Will my wife start a fresh 6 years on her h1 or will she have only 2.

6 yrs is on all h visas put together.

The 6 yrs start (individually) from the time somebody entered US on a H visa. If your wife came with you when you came into US on H1, yes 2 years only are left.
