h1 to h4 visa stamping in US

Hi,

I was on H1 and recently applied for change of status to H4 and got the approval notice 10 days back. My question:

1> Can I get my H4 visa stamped in US. If yes, what aal documents i need.

2> OR if I have to go out of US to get my H4 visa stamped. Can I get it stamped from canada or mexico?

3> Is there any time period in which one has to get visa stamped after approval notice is recieved.

Read the link, I don’t think DOS will stamp H4 visa as earlier you had H1 and it is change of status from H1 to H4, they stamp the same category of visa if you had same category visa in PP

Thanx for the link. It gives the document details but I still want to know how soon I have to apply for H4 visa as I don't plan to go outside US in next 10 months. Is there any time limit in which one has to stamp visa after approval notice.

If you got Change of status from H1 to H4 and got the approval notice AND I-94 is extended (see right side of approval notice lower part) then you don’t need to get H4 visa stamped immediately. Visa stamp for entry to US, when you go out of US you can get the Visa stamp in passport you are in H1 status till the date you have valid I-94 and can stay in US till your I-94 expiry date
