H1 to H4 to H1

Hi, I am canadian citizen. Me and my wife are on H1, I am working for company ABC. I will be laidoff in two weeks. My question is that is it ok if i go to the boarder and get H4 cause my wife is working on H1, what kind of papers i need. one
more question is that after getting H4, in future if i found jobwith ABC same company from where i laidoff, do i have to apply H1 again or old H1 will work....Thanks

is a good site that lists documents required for h4 (not all are required though).
Yes U have to do a h4 to h1 transfer even if U get the job back at ABC.
