H1 to H4 applying- how long can i work

Hello all

I am in my H-1 status expiring in Sep 09. (first 3 years). I want to convert to H4. I realize the processing time if i apply now is almost 6 months. My question is after I apply and I get the receipt number, how long is my H-1 valid/How long can I keep working?

You cannot work after applying.

It is not correct that you have to stop work just after filling I-539 (COS, H1B to H4). You may continue work until H1B expiration or COS approval date. You can search previous posts in this forum. You can also see this link.
