H1 to H4 after 6 years Expired

I am currently on a H1 B visa with the 3 year extension beyond 6 years based on approved I-140 and unable to file I 485 due to PD not being current. My spouse is on the first year of H1 B visa and has not started GC processing. Can I convert to H4 based on my spouse's H1 and continue to stay for the validity period of that H1 visa ? Or would I need to leave the country immediately for a year since I've reached my H visa's 6 year limit already?

Thanks,
Archar

You can extend your H1 in 3 years increment until you get your GC. No need to go H4 with your wife's H1
