Is it necessary to change the marital status on my wife's passport before I go ahead and send my application(I-130,I-485,etc)?

Doesnt matter. Your marriage certificate is important, not the marital status on the passport.
On I-485 what should be the expiry date for my visas?
The visa stamp on my passport has expiry date Dec 2006 but then I changed my employer this year and the visas got extended to Aug 2008.However ,I did not get my passport stamped since I dint go out of US after that.
I believe that the expiry date should be Aug 2008.
Would appreciate if some1 can confirm.
