H1 to EAD ....?

The good news is that we have our EAD, through my wife's GC process. I am currently on H1B.

Can somebody tell me how the things work..

1. How do I change my employment status from H1B to EAD?

2. Are there any issues involved with it?

3. Can I do some other business/job with EAD, while I am currently working with my company?

Please give your inputs....

1. go to your hr and file an i9 form.

2. make sure that you renew your ead so that you have an work authorization in hand for every working day till your gc is approved. travel on an advance parole.

Fill up I-9 form with HR, but why you don’t maintain H1 status till your wife I-485 is not approved? Because if due to any reason it is denied you will not have any status to stay or work in US as you also will not be on H1, If I am in your position I will maintain my H1 status.
2. Are there any issues involved with it?
If you use EAD you have to use AP to enter US, If you maintain H1 you can enter with H1 Visa
3. Can I do some other business/job with EAD, while I am currently working with my company?
-- You are free do any job with EAD, If you use EAD you will not be on H1 with your employer and have to renew EAD every time before it expires( It takes 3-4 months to get new EAD approved, always file for new EAD 6 months advance.
-- It will be safe for your wife if Her I-140 is approved and then she filed I-485 and I-485 is pending more than 180 days (to use AC21, if she changes job in future). If it was concurrent filing wait for the I-140 approval. It is good to have EAD and AP but depends on personal reasons to use it.

If I use my EAD to work on a W2 with some other employer and I am employed with my sponsor company- is there any way my sponsor company can generate a payroll for me.
DOes this mean I also loose my H1B status?
If yes Can I then go back to H1B with my sponsor company?

Once you use EAD with your employer or part time, you loose H1 status.
If in future you want to be on H1 after using EAD, it will be filed as NEW H1 with BCIS if approved I-94 will NOT be attached, you have to go out of US, get H1 Visa stamp in PP and have to enter US on H1 you will get I-94 based on new H1
