H1 to EAD

I have changed my job using EAD last year, my last H1 was/is valid up to March 2009, is it true if we use EAD our H1 gets cancelled? Is there a way to check if H1 is still valid, this EAD renewal process is scaring me alot, do they still provide interim EAD or its gone?

Once you use EAD your H1 even if it is valid (but not working for the sponsor) is toast.

However, if you would like to get back into H1 you will need to go back to home country and come back on H1 visa.
