I have a stamped F1. My OPT ended in August 2002. I had a F1 stamping in my passport till Dec 2002. Before my OPT ended, I had applied for my H1, and I recieved it in mid of January 2003. Now I want to H4 paper for my family. Is it OK if I send copy of my F1 stamped passport to India along with copy of my H1 papers, or should I stamp my passport by stamping it in the border and then send my H1 stamped passport.

Another question is will I face any problem, since I got my H1 paper after my OPT was over, eventhough I applied for it before.

1. Your dependents need your h1 stamp to get their h4s. Although you can try without a h1 stamp, most consulates insist on a visa stamp - at least for the first h1

2. If you did not work after OPT expiry and before H1 approval, then you are fine. Pending h1 application allows you to stay here although the previous visa status expired. The only concern I have is why did you not get H1 with an overlap over the F1?

Urgent Pleas Help!!!!

Hi,
I am currently working as a Software professional in California.
I came to the US on a F1 visa. I completed my OPT and got H1 approval on Oct 2002. I am going to Canada to get a
multiple entry stamp on my passport however I have a very serious concern.

I have completed all requirements for my Ms but I have not yet graduated (still need to defend thesis). I just want
to know whether it is appropriate to go to Canada to get a multiple entry stamp (since I do not have my diploma, but I do have my transcript)

What are the chances of encountering a problem on account of my not having completed graduation even though I have the H1 approved from INS.

Another question is what supporting documents from the University will help me get the multiple entry stamp in Canada?

Please help me as this matter is quite urgent!

Hi Jaxen,

The reason for that is, I got a sponsor a only at that time. Will it create any issue at the consulates?.

kcs- issues possible.

newuser :If it is only requirement of the degree certificate than you should not face any problem. Read this forum, check the F1 forum too...

Hi Jaxen,

I worked during my OPT not as a regular employee, since the economy was bad they were kind of worried then, after seeing my skill set, and since they had a need, they started processing my H1 and I started working after recieving my H1.
Please advice

You are probably ok with the 90 day grace period available for F1/OPT candidates before starting on H1.
