H1 Stamping while holding L1

Hello,

I am currently on L1-B for Company X and company Y filed for H1 and got it approved. I have not started working for Y yet. Is it possible now to go back to India and get the new H1 stamped? What kind of issues might arise?

You can start working for company Y as soon as your new H1 is approved. You do not need to travel to India just to get H1 visa stamped.
If you are going anyway, you will need to definitely get a H1 visa from India.
There should be no problems whatsoever, since both L and H visas are dual intent visas. When you go for your new visa remember to carry the ORIGINAL I-797 approval notice, preferably with I-94 part still attached to it.
