H1 stamping question

Hey all,

I got a change of status from F1 to H1 while in US. Am visiting india for the first time after the change of status and i am trying to schedule an appointment at Chennai. When I visit ttsvisas.com for scheduling an appointment, the system asks for my Petition expiry date.

2 Questions:

1. I have applied for the H1 transfer which is still under processing. The receipt from INS does not have the Petition expiry date but I do know the dates that the company has specified in the application. If I do not want to wait for the approval to schedule an appointment, Can I use the date till when the H1 was requested by the company or do I use the date on the previous approval?

2. Is maximum number of applicants = 1?

My company would want to start the GC process immediately. Is it okay to start the process before getting H1 stamped? Would starting the GC Process affect the visa stamping in any way? Is it safe to wait till i get my visa stamped?

Thanks in advance.

If I were you, I would wait. Sometimes BCIS approves with different dates...sometimes there will be queries. did you apply premium processing?

yes.

Applying to GC(first stage) Labor doesnt effect your H1 visa application at all. But in case, you already have labor approved and you are applying for I-140, then you may need to mention it in the app.

Thanks in advance.

I agree with YnotCanada, If i were you i would wait until i get the transfer approved. That puts me in a better position..again this is just my personal opinion im not an attorney

Thanks guys for the answers.

No, I have'nt gone for premium processing. How often does BCIS approve with different dates? I am contemplating whether I should go for premium processing or maybe just cross my fingers and hope the date on the approval is same as the one applied for.
