The consulate where you applied for a visa doesn't do your clearance. You could try contacting the Department of State general inquiries number (posted somewhere else on these boards) to find out the status of your clearance. Of course, they'll tell you exactly what the consulate will tell you: sorry, it's still pending.
Nitvork, too bad yours got stuck. It was a good idea to travel back to your home country and not wait wherever you applied for the visa. Hope you're able to telecommute in the meantime. Good luck!
