Hi ,

I am canadian citizen and recently got H1 approval from American company. I called American consulates in Canada and they are saying Canadian citizens do not require personal visits to consulate for H1 stamping. they can get stamping from Airport while landing in US. Can somebody tell me procedure of getting stamping from American consulate because my company is even not sure about the process and insisting to get visa stamped from consulate before arriving to USA.

Thanks

----consulate is correct but at Airport or at border post you will get I-94 Not the VISA stamp in passport

-------- you have talked to US consulate in Canada
because my company is even not sure about the process and insisting to get visa stamped from consulate before arriving to USA.
------------Talk to US company lawyer in US and tell him what US consulate in Canada told you
Thanks

all you have to do is enter the USA at either an airport or border crossing with your H1-B approval notice and your passport. The customs official will have you fill out a I-94 card and then will stamp your passport with an entry stamp and they will write in the date it is valid until. There is no VISA decal for Canadians, just the entry stamp. very easy and very fast.
