I got my H-1 visa renewed till 2006 in May 2003.
I am expecting my CP interview in New Delhi somewhere around December 2003.
Should i get my H1 stamped on my passport here in US or when i go to India.
Is it important that passport be stamped with H1-B visa before interview.

If you have the new I-94 stub from the new H1 notice of approval, that is sufficient. However if the present visa stamp in your passport is about to expire ( within 60 days) or has already
expired (and it is not more than 1 year since it has expired) it is
a good idea to send it to St.Louise and get it revalidated.

Please note it is not mandatory to have a current visa stamp in your passport. You would be doing this only to have the means for travelling in between if necessary.

Re: Re: H1 stamp necessary for CP interview ??

Thanks Raju,
So that means it is not necessary that i have the current H1-B stamp on my passport when i appear for Green Card interview in INDIA in DECEMBER 03.
By current H1-B stamp on my passport expired in April 03.
I have the new I-94 stubs from the renewed H1.

H1 visa stamp is not required on the passport, though you need to maintain the H1 status for all your duration of stay in US before you go to your home country for CP interview.

From the data you have provided pertinent to your case, you should not have any problem in regards to this issue.

Thanks & Good Luck.
